YOGA TRAINING COURSE Requirements & Guidelines

1. ABOUT THE YOGA TRAINING COURSE Yoga is an art of living, with positive attitude and cheerfulness. it is a holistic approach to health and wellness. It is a path to unfold one's capacity for reaching full capacity for happiness. Body-mind balancing, complete relaxation and rejuvenation, Work-life Balance. It is a training for an integrated and holistic life. The Yoga Training Course is a comprehensive program that combines the breathing practices, physical postures, and relaxation techniques of Hatha Yoga with the philosophy, self-discipline, concentration, and meditation practices of Raja Yoga.

In essence, this course offers a harmonious blend of Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga, providing students with both practical training and an understanding of the principles and philosophy behind Yoga.

The course includes both theoretical instruction and practical practice, allowing students to develop a strong foundation in Yoga and incorporate its principles into their daily lives. 2. COURSE OBJECTIVES & BENEFITS The Yoga Training Course is designed to help students develop a balanced approach to physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through regular and consistent practice, students may develop:
• Improved concentration and memory
• Greater enthusiasm and cheerfulness
• A more positive approach to life
• Improved self-awareness and self-control
• Better emotional balance
• Improved physical and mental stamina
• Greater flexibility, strength, and body awareness
• Support for the body’s natural healing and recovery processes
• Improved relaxation and stress management
• Greater awareness of the relationship between body, mind, and breath
• Healthier interpersonal relationships and communication

Yoga is not simply an exercise program. It is a way of life that encourages balance, discipline, awareness, and harmony between the body, mind, and breath.

3. AN ASSET FOR LIFE The knowledge and skills gained through this course can become a valuable and lasting part of your life.
Upon completing the training, students will have a foundation in Yoga theory and practice that can enable them to continue practicing independently at home or wherever they may be, without depending entirely on a Yoga teacher or studio.

The ultimate goal is to help students develop the knowledge, confidence, discipline, and awareness necessary for lifelong Yoga practice. 4. REGISTRATION & APPLICATION • All new students are required to complete an application Form before beginning the course.
• Students are expected to provide accurate and relevant information on the application form.
• Participants should inform the Yoga Instructor of any physical limitations, injuries, or other circumstances that may affect their participation.
• Course fees and payment information are available from the course provider or organizer. 5. ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY Students are requested to arrive 5–10 minutes before the scheduled class time. Arriving early allows sufficient time to prepare for the session and begin the practice calmly and without interruption. Regular attendance and consistent practice are strongly encouraged for meaningful progress. If you need to leave a session early, please inform the instructor before the class begins. Students leaving early should, whenever possible, leave before Final Relaxation (Savasana) and meditation.

6. PERSONAL HYGIENE & CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE To maintain a comfortable and respectful environment for everyone:
• Please do not use perfumes, fragrances, or strongly scented products before or during the session.
• Please turn off or silence cell phones and electronic devices before the session begins. • Shoes must be removed upon arrival and you may keep it on a shoe rack.
• Please do not bring food into the Yoga hall.
• Water and other permitted liquids must be kept in containers with secure lids. • Maintain a quiet and peaceful environment while entering, leaving, and practicing in the Yoga hall.
• Please respect the instructor and fellow participants by avoiding unnecessary conversations during the session. 7. CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT • Wear comfortable, modest clothing that allows you to move freely.
• A Yoga mat is required for practice.
• Students may bring a towel or other personal items as needed.
• Please keep personal belongings organized and in the designated area. 8. HEALTH & SAFETY Yoga should be practiced with awareness, care, and respect for the individual limitations of each participant.
Individuals with health concerns—particularly those who have recently undergone surgery or who have conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, hernia, back problems, or eye or ear conditions—should consult their physician and the Yoga Instructor before beginning the course.

Participants are encouraged to inform the instructor about any:
• Existing health conditions
• Recent or previous injuries
• Physical limitations
• Surgeries or medical procedures
• Other concerns that may affect their Yoga practice

This information will help the instructor provide appropriate guidance and modifications and promote a safe and comfortable practice.

Students should never practice through significant pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or other concerning symptoms. If discomfort or symptoms occur, stop the practice and inform the instructor. Seek appropriate medical attention when necessary. 9. PRINCIPLES OF YOGA PRACTICE Students are expected to approach Yoga practice with patience, awareness, and self-discipline.
• Movements should be slow, rhythmic, controlled, and gentle.
• Never force or strain the body.
• Do not compete with other students.
• Do not attempt to achieve a posture beyond your natural ability or comfortable range.
• Respect your body and recognize its limitations.
• Coordinate movement with breathing as instructed.
• Maintain awareness of your body, breathing, and mental state throughout the practice.
• Progress gradually and consistently rather than trying to achieve results quickly.

About Dev

Devaprasad began his yogic journey in 1979, studying under various distinguished gurus and at renowned institutions, including the Sivananda Yoga Centre, Banaras Hindu University, and S-VYASA Yoga University. Following the completion of his philosophical studies in 1988. In addition to his academic pursuits, he taught yoga at Mahatma Gandhi University and different colleges while taking his theology course (1990-94). Over the past 38 years, he has taught yoga and yogic meditation across universities, colleges, schools, and institutions throughout India. His international teaching includes conducting specialized yoga training sessions in Germany (1995–1997) and Canada (1999–2005). An accomplished author, Devaprasad has published numerous articles in academic and wellness journals, alongside three books: his first two published in 1995 and 1998, and his third, Deva Yoga, in 2010. Throughout his career, he has held several key academic and administrative roles in India, including serving on the staff at the National Centre (NBCLC) in Bangalore from 1996 to 2003, and teaching at Vinayasadhana (Dharmaram College) and Montfort College. In 1999, he founded Chaitanyadhara (Centre for Relaxation and Healing) in Bangalore. From 2005 to 2010, he served as a full-time lecturer in Yoga and Stress Management at Jain University’s Centre for Management Studies, while also instructing across other university campuses. Returning to Canada in October 2010, he began teaching yoga and meditation in Ottawa in January 2011, partnering with the City of Ottawa, the YMCA, and offering private sessions and workshops. In 2021, he relocated to St. Thomas, Ontario, where he continues to teach both online and in person. He currently serves as the Director and lead instructor at the Universal Love and Peace Foundation.
